Educational background

Educational Philosophy

I believe all children have the ability and right to learn regardless of their ethnicity and social status.  I believe all children have the right to pursue a higher education if they choose to.  I also believe it is our responsibility as educators to prepare our students for that choice if they choose to take that route.

Given the support and skills needed in life, students can reach their full potential to reach their goals.  As an educator, I believe it is our moral obligation to nurture, prepare, and empower students to be the best they can be, to become competent citizens who care for one another as well as our global world.  I believe each student is unique and has the ability to leave their imprint in this world.

Coaching Goals

My goal as an academic coach is to empower teachers and give them the skills and tools needed for them to reach and support the needs of all their students.

  • Through coaching cycles with teachers, I plan to have teachers identify areas of strength and areas where they wish to improve in order for them to refine their teaching craft.

  • Decrease the number of students in Tier 3, by helping teachers plan for interventions, small group instruction, and targeted instruction.

  • Improve student achievement through teacher collaboration, teacher clarity, and teacher-student relationships.

Leadership Mission

As the Academic/Intervention Coach at Mary Chapa Academy, my mission is to improve student achievement and teacher success.  Students need to be supported in every academic area of their schooling.  Teachers need to be given the tools and skills to help support their students.  My mission is to help our teachers and students achieve their goals.

Leadership Vision

My vision for Mary Chapa Academy is to see all our systems of support work collectively and improve student achievement.  As a Professional Learning Community, (PLC) I am excited that we are continuing our journey to Save Student Lives!
